Lights blinded me. I swerved out of the way, hoping to avoid a crash when the car flew over the cliff’s edge. I was airborne and then darkness consumed me. I woke, the smell of gasoline; metal pressed against my chest; fire. I struggled to break free. I wanted to live.
But when I looked for my reflection in the rear-view mirror, nothing was there.

Really powerful imagery. I especially like how you turned the typical ghost story model on its head and had the narrator discover they were a ghost. It was an unexpected use of the last line.

Interesting twist here–sort of a ghost’s origin story. You had some great sensory details there after the crash.

That final image is so powerful it elevated an already masterful micro. Well done!

I completely agree. If you really think about looking into a mirror and finding it empty…that is terrifying. Well done.
