“Help! I’m caught in a net.” The dolphin struggled to break free. The octopus felt pity. She approached the dolphin.
“I’ll help if you promise not to hurt me.”
The dolphin stilled as she worked. When the last rope fell, the dolphin protected the octopus until she’d gone back into hiding.
Moral of the Story: Kindness is its own reward
Sweet dolphin, and lucky octopus for choosing to help a friendly creature. How might this have gone if the dolphin had actually been a shark in disguise?!

I almost didn’t. The world needs more positivity though.

OH, I’m glad you chose to end this in a positive way. Kindness IS its own reward. I just hope my kid gets that AND SOON.

I completely thought that the octopus was going down, and was pleasantly surprised that she didn’t!

I like how you phrased that, “going down”. I kept thinking about the story of the scorpion and the frog and almost went in that direction. Thanks for reading and commenting!

This is so beautiful in its straightforward simplicity. As I was reading I was waiting for the proverbial “other shoe” to fall. And it didn’t. Which say something – either about my cynicism or the state of the world.

I struggled to keep it positive, so you’re not alone in your cynicism. Thank you for reading!
